After 1 day, it looks like the bogus account problem is on hiatus.

Re-activated access to registration.
Blocked 3 more IP addresses. Bad actors are using a broad spectrum of IP addresses to attempt direct access to user/register. Not sure how many actors are involved.

Tracking additional attempts to register new accounts. Bad actor is using multiple IP addresses. I am looking for repeat IPs.

User account creation is temporarily disabled to stop a flood of bogus accounts. The bad actor is getting past Captcha.
I am blacklisting IP addresses that cause repeat access denials for direct links to user/register, so please do not attempt that method.
In the meantime, if you want to establish a new user account, email your Drupal username to wallingconsulting at gmail.
